MAKING TOYOTAMY BLOCK

So it was off to San Francisco to film a Toyota campaign with my new company in the US, Rakish. There was a lot of discussion from the start of the pitching process as to where to shoot, the idea being a success story of a black woman becoming a mayor in a Brooklyn type neighbourhood. Sounds easy but with the added complication of winter weather in most of the US, and filming in late February, there weren’t many options. LA is the go to location for car spots, but it is too Californian and to dress the backlots was also too expensive. And so, Oakland was decided to be the location.

The campaign came from Burrell Communications, produced by Cathy Antoniello, VP creative was Corey Seaton, creative director, Nicholas Anglin. Great team to be working with. Unfortunately I took some really great pics of everyone on the last day of shoot, but I formated the drive and deleted them all by mistake……..

RAKISH, https://www.rakish.us is my new prod co in the US, and I couldn’t be happier. Gabe Reiter EP was on the shoot but as I mentioned earlier, deleted a lot of pics… Big thanks to Shae Horton, my producer on the job, also deleted a load of his pics. He was fantastic and it went very smoothly even though the rain was a pain in the ass! Big thanks to Michael Jordan, “MJ”, 1st AD and his team. In particular I want to thank Rina Yang, @the_rinayang, director of photography that I have been wanting to work with for some time, finally managed to align the dates. She has a particular eye for good taste and is very talented, not that I need to say this of course, but it was a pleasure working with her. And of course the arm car team, Mat Moss and Rob Rubin, https://cinemoves.com/, who make it all so much easier when filming cars! To the Prod designer and her team, Meghan McClure, great job! Dasha, Wardrobe stylist and her team, and of course this was also in part thanks to one of my reps, Nikki Weiss-Goldstein, thanks too.

More pics from the prep and shoot. Rainy days.

Some random pics below, including some of a drive I took up to Point Reyes which is quite beautiful regardless of the rain.

Dawn vibes to set
